Toastmasters Education at Central Club

Our Method

Toastmasters in general and Central Club in particular, are some of the nicest, easy-going, welcoming people you will ever find. As one member once said: “I couldn’t rent an audience as nice and as appreciative as you.” As a member of Toastmasters International, Central Club 2277 observes standard protocol and some parliamentary procedures,e.g. addressing members by their titles. This gives our meeting a little formal structure.

If you are visiting as a guest, you will be welcomed by several of the members. You might be asked if you would like to participate by giving a short impromptu speech. There is no pressure to do so and you can decline.

If you do decide to become a member, you will be shown how to choose a Pathways path which will give you a set of speeches and projects to work on to improve your speaking and leadership skills. You can have one of our club’s more experienced members act as your guide and mentor.

There are several roles to be filled at every meeting and members will be asked to fill them. They will be explained to you and usually, you start with the easiest ones and progress to the more involved roles as you get more experienced.

A Typical Meeting

Here is a description of how our meetings are structured.   But of course – the best way to find out about our club is to stop by as a guest!
